West Ashley resident Valerie Trindle has a voluptuous personality.
The former hair stylist-turned-realtor is certainly not known for her subtly. Even she admits she has a big mouth. But that’s not the only thing she has that’s larger than average. Trindle is also well-endowed in the bosom department. But what some might say is blessing has been more of a curse for Trindle, who many know from hosting trivia on Tuesday nights at the Tin Roof.
In 8th grade she was already a D-cup. By the time she graduated high school she was pushing a Triple-D. Nowadays, she’s somewhere in the Gs. And it’s starting to really weigh on her … literally. Health concerns, such as back issues and even digestive issues, have been attribute to her busty figure. Trindle is done dealing with it. This month she’s getting a breast reduction to offset those discomforts. “I’m going to be just a regular old D now,” she says with a laugh.
Although she’s laughing about it, she also admits that she’s a little nervous. “I’ve never had a big surgery like this before,” says Trindle who will lose nearly four pounds from each breast.
And in true Val Trindle-style, to help keep her mind off the surgery, she has decided to turn the whole event into a party. But not just any party, it’s a Boobie Bazaar, with carnival games, dunk tanks, a bake sale, cakewalks, and food and drinks. Many of the games will go along with the theme of the day, such as “bobbing for boobies.” The Boobie Bazaar will start around noon on Sunday, April 8 at Tin Roof and go until people quit showing up. “I’m known for my boobs, so I want to give people a chance to come say goodbye,” she says.
But it’s not all fun and games, the vivacious Trindle has turned the event into a fundraiser to help a close friend’s mother who is battling breast cancer and having to travel between Mississippi and Texas for treatment. All of the money raised that day will go directly to the family.
“I’m taking something that’s not that great and making a party out of it,” says Trindle. “And I’m taking a party and making a fundraiser out of it.” But the purpose of the Boobie Bazaar is not just to raise money for a good cause, but to also help educate women on the need to have mammograms done, says Trindle, who knows all too well the risks of breast cancer. A couple years back she lost her stepmother to the disease.
“I know the toll that it can have on a family,” says Trindle, whose goal is to raise $1,000 at the event. “If we raise twice that, great! If we raise half of that, great! Anything would be great. Every bit counts,” she says.
Tin Roof will be grilling burgers and hotdogs out back. There will also be some drink specials for the event. Several of Trindle’s friends are chipping in to help out and some are even doing “boob paintings” that will be auctioned off at the Boobie Bazaar. “It’s just a fun day to raise awareness and celebrate boobies,” says Trindle.
